China blocks access to Japanese mail servers

As reported by Internet Watch (site in Japanese), since last week it is not possible to download email from many Japanese email servers using POP3. According to the article, this was noticed in all China at the same time, so it is suspected that access is being blocked by the Chinese government by means of their country-wide Internet firewall.

The article mentions that access to public email servers with a web interface work with some user accounts and not with others (Yahoo is given as an example).

My personal opinion is that whatever it is what the Chinese government is trying to do, most likely it isn't going to be very successful in blocking email coming from Japan. Anything short of an isolated, China-only Internet would be innefective. And I don't think that's what they would like.

This site is mutating

I'm mutating! Or something like that... I'm updating my website to a new version. I have been working on it for some time now, and I didn't want to replace the old site until the new one was ready. However, currently I don't have much time to work on it, so the development is much slower than I thought. The new site won't be complete anytime soon.

Because of that, I have decided to put the new version online such as it is now. It's quite unfinished, but it works (more or less). I'm rewriting from zero all of the components, and it will take some time, but it will eventually be finished.

So please be patient. Pages will appear and dissapear as I do tests. The photo galleries will be offline for some time. There will be broken links. Etcetera. You know what I'm talking about. Little by little I will be adding things, starting with the old blog posts (if I manage to import them from the old Nucleus into the new engine), and the photo galleries.

If you have any suggestions, complaints or comments about the new site, or if you just feel like telling me how nice/stupid/whatever I am, then don't hesitate to mail me: ag0ny@ag0ny.com. Please note that I have installed a whitelist software in my email account because I receive too much spam. This means that if you send me an email and you're not in my whitelist then you will receive an automated email asking for confirmation. You will have to reply to the confirmation email. My email server will then deliver your email to my account and add your address to my whitelist, so you will not receive the confirmation message again on subsequent emails.

And no, comments are not enabled. Yet. Want to tell me something? Then send me an email. I will add the comments manually to the blog until the posting system is in place.
